Panthers' Cam Newton: Cleared to play Sunday
Newton (concussion) was cleared by an independent neurologist and will play in Sunday's Week 6 matchup with the Saints.
Analysis:
This announcement comes as more of a formality than anything after Newton practiced in full on Thursday and Friday. The Saints are allowing a league-worst 32.5 points per contest and the Panthers offense is expected to be at full strength, assuming that Jonathan Stewart (hamstring) and Kelvin Benjamin (knee) both play. With the Panthers needing a win to help jump-start their season, Newton could be in for a big game in his return to action.
