Ravens' Dennis Pitta: Says depth chart may be based on seniority
Pitta acknowledged that his spot atop the depth chart may have more to do with seniority than expected playing time.
Analysis:
Now nearly 48 months removed from his last NFL appearance, the 31-year-old Pitta missed all of the preseason after breaking his finger in a training camp scuffle. There's no guarantee he'll actually start or get most of the snaps, as Crockett Gillmore and Maxx Williams are also in the mix to handle key roles. Pitta is the most polished receiver of the bunch, but Gillmore's the best blocker, while Williams has the highest long-term ceiling as a receiver. This could be a season-long rotation that prevents any of the three from becoming a worthwhile fantasy asset. As for Pitta's health, he reportedly wore a non-contact jersey at Wednesday's practice, but the Ravens listed him as a full participant both Wednesday and Thursday.
