New England Patriots guard Jonathan Cooper was carted off the practice field Saturday with an apparent injury.
Details on his status have not yet been confirmed by the team, but a report from NFL Network's Ian Rapoport later indicated that Cooper is dealing with a plantar fascia issue in his foot.
Cooper was acquired this offseason in the trade that sent Chandler Jones to the Arizona Cardinals.
Though the former first-round pick has been unable to live up to expectations over his first three seasons, New England will be hoping that a fresh start can help him emerge as a reliable contributor.
Getting healthy and taking all the training camp and preseason reps he can get will undoubtedly be imperative for his chances of doing so.
