The Pittsburgh Steelers opened training camp this week without the services of tight end Heath Miller for the first time since 2004.
Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has played his entire career with Miller and felt things weren't quite right without a No. 83 jersey on the field.
"Just honoring a guy who deserves to be honored," Roethlisberger told Chris Adamski of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.
Miller, 33, announced his retirement following the 2015 season.
