Redskins' Perry Riley: Out for start of training camp
Riley (foot) was placed on the PUP list for the start of training camp, The Washington Post reports.
Analysis:
Still recovering from the injury (and subsequent surgery) that cost him the final six games of last season, Riley may need to compete for a roster spot when/if he is ready to practice. The Redskins could deploy Will Compton and Mason Foster as the starting inside linebackers, and Riley's $4 million salary would be tough to justify for a backup at a non-premium position. Of course, the 28-year-old might consider taking a pay cut to stick around.
