Wes Welker spent six record-setting seasons with New England Patriots under the guidance of Bill Belichick. However, his success didn't mean he was close to his head coach.

The strained relationship between the two was believed to be a factor in the Patriots allowing him to leave for the Denver Broncos in 2013, and Welker revealed during an appearance on 98.5 The Sports Hub's Toucher and Rich Show Tuesday that he's had zero contract with Belichick since he left.

"I spoke with him probably right before I signed with Denver (in 2013)," Welker said, according to Henry McKenna of Boston.com.

"I don't see really any reason to," Welker added when pressed on the matter.

Welker blamed his and Belichick's busy schedules on the lack of contact, but said he does find time to stay in communication with several of his former Patriots teammates.

"I went to war with Tom Brady. I went to war with Matt Cassel, Mike Vrabel, Tedy Bruschi. Those are the guys I talk to."

The 35-year-old reiterated that he remains undecided about whether he'll return for a 13th season in the NFL, saying there is a "small percentage" of him that wants to play but that it would require the right team and situation.
