Veteran free-agent Roddy White is only done playing, if he's done winning.
White, who has spent his entire 11-year career with the Atlanta Falcons, told Jeff Schultz of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that he only wants to continue his playing career if he can sign with a contender.
"I’ve literally prepared myself for it," White said. "I’ve talked to my financial adviser and he said I’m fine if I decide to quit. But I’ve always played this game to win a Super Bowl. I thought I’d get with the Falcons and we’d win a championship and everything I wanted in my career would be fulfilled. I’ve been on good teams and bad teams, but at this point I don’t have the energy to be on teams that can’t win now."
After being cut in March, White admitted he has no interest in attending OTAs and isn't in a rush to sign with a team. At age 34, he has established a screening process and doesn't want to waste time on the field with the wrong group.
"When my agent and I went down the list and I saw the teams that really needed wide receivers, I was like, 'Wow, I really don’t want to go there,'" White said. "I knew I couldn’t win with any of those teams. At this point of my career, I don’t want to be dragging my feet in Week 13 just to have an opportunity to be 4-10 next week."
White has recorded 808 catches for 10,893 yards and 63 touchdowns in his career, but has been part of only one playoff win in four career post-season appearances.
His production drastically dipped in 2015 recording his lowest yards total since his rookie season (506 yards) despite starting all 16 games.
