The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced the signing of first-round pick Vernon Hargreaves on Friday.

Official terms of the contract were not disclosed, but the former Florida cornerback joins the team on a four-year deal worth $14.2 million, according to Rick Stroud of The Tampa Bay Times.

The fifth-year option, which is now standard in all rookie contracts, would reportedly be worth $8.5 million if exercised.

Hargreaves, one of the top defensive backs available in this year's draft, will enter training camp with an opportunity to earn a starting role opposite veteran free-agent addition Brent Grimes.

He and the rest of the Buccaneers' draft class report for rookie minicamp Friday.
