Dolphins 'comfortable' with running back group
Despite losing Lamar Miller and having their offer sheet to restricted free agent C.J. Anderson matched by the Denver Broncos, the Miami Dolphins don't consider running back a dire need heading into the draft.
"We're comfortable," general manager Chris Grier said Friday during his pre-draft news conference. "Coach (Adam) Gase's history of what he's done with running backs, these guys fit what he's done with their skill sets."
Second-year running back Jay Ajayi is penciled in as the Dolphins' starter, with Damien Williams, Jahwan Edwards, Daniel Thomas, and Isaiah Pead behind him on the depth chart.
Grier did note that the Dolphins will take any player that can help their team, so it doesn't sound like they've ruled out drafting a running back. Potential targets could include Ohio State's Ezekiel Elliott, whom they recently hosted on a two-day visit.
