UFC on FOX 17 weigh-ins: Cerrone, dos Anjos on point; several struggle with the scale
Donald Cerrone and Rafael dos Anjos made weight Friday in anticipation of their lightweight title bout at UFC on FOX 17 on Saturday night.
While Cerrone and dos Anjos weighed in comfortably, several fighters struggled in their battle with the scales.
Danny Castillo initially weighed in two pounds over the lightweight limit of 156, but was ultimately able to make weight on his second attempt.
Charles Oliveira, however, wasn't so lucky. Oliveira was a whopping 4.5 pounds too heavy for his featherweight bout against Myles Jury. Instead of trying to cut the excess poundage, Oliveira eschewed the hell of a further weight cut in favor of surrendering 20 percent of his purse to Jury.
Both Oliveira and Castillo voiced their concerns about what they thought was a faulty scale, as did C.B. Dollaway, who was only able to make weight when he removed his surprisingly heavy underwear.
Lost amid the scale shenanigans was a delightful lightsaber duel between Cole Miller and Jim Alers, and an unsurprisingly tense stare down between Nate Diaz and Michael Johnson.
