Former NHLer Ian White facing weapons charges after arrest
Former NHL defenseman Ian White was arrested Friday in Winnipeg on multiple weapons charges, according to TSN's Rick Westhead and Global News' Mitch Rosset.
White faces the following charges:
- Careless use or storage of a firearm or prohibited device
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Possession of a firearm in an unauthorized place
- Unauthorized importing of a prohibited or restricted firearm
- Breach of recognizance
The 31-year-old White played 34 games for the AHL's Milwaukee Admirals last season, scoring three goals and adding 16 assists in 34 games. He last played in the NHL in 2012-13.
White spent the majority of his eight-year professional career with the Toronto Maple Leafs, who drafted him in the sixth round in 2002. He also played for the Calgary Flames, Carolina Hurricanes, San Jose Sharks, and Detroit Red Wings.
The Manitoba native has had legal issues before. He was convicted of impaired driving and charged with driving while disqualified in 2006.
White, an offensive defenseman, had 179 points in 503 career regular-season games.
