The son of a Finnish hockey legend is one step closer to the NHL.

Eetu Selanne, son of former Anaheim Ducks forward Teemu Selanne, has made the USHL's Madison Capitols' opening night roster.

The 17-year-old was a Phase II draft selection of the Capitols in 2014. He is listed at 5-foot-10 and 170 pounds on the club's official website.

Eetu scored 12 goals and added seven assists in 24 games for the Los Angeles Jr. Kings, an under-18 team, in 2014-15.

He is eligible for the 2016 NHL Entry Draft.

Teemu was a 10-time NHL All-Star, who scored 684 goals and recorded 1,457 points in 1,451 career regular-season games. He won a Stanley Cup with the Ducks in 2007, and captured four Olympic medals as a member of the Finnish national team.
