Flyers' Lecavalier ramped up offseason program, excited for 'clean slate'

Vincent Lecavalier didn't receive his ticket out of Philadelphia this summer, but he is getting a fresh start of sorts.

The former superstar forward - who was limited to eight goals last season - says he took on a much more expansive workload with a new trainer this summer, in an effort to take advantage of the "clean slate" offered by new Flyers coach Dave Hakstol.

"I'm excited. I believe I worked as hard as I could this summer on ice," Lecavalier told Tim Panaccio of CSN. "I started earlier. I used to skate twice a week. Then three times. But I started right away going four times a week to really get back in that groove."

He may be free of pre-existing judgement from behind his own bench, but it won't take long to figure out whether Lecavalier's extra work has saved tired legs.
