New Orleans Saints rookie cornerback P.J. Williams has been placed on season-ending injured reserve with a torn hamstring, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
Williams was selected in the third round of this year's draft and was expected to challenge for one of the nickel cornerback jobs behind starters Keenan Lewis and Brandon Browner.
That competition will now likely come down to second-year pro Stanley Jean-Baptiste and former CFL star Delvin Breaux.
Williams will take his rookie season to rehab, and should have an opportunity to push for a starting job upon making his return ahead of the 2016 campaign.
