Analysis:

Allen, a fourth-round rookie out of USC, is expected to compete with Lorenzo Taliaferro for the No. 2 spot on the depth chart. Allen's receiving ability makes him the better fit for Marc Trestman's offense, but Taliaferro has reportedly made major strides in that regard since last season. If Justin Forsett were to suffer an injury, Allen and Taliaferro might both have key roles in the offense.
