James Hinchcliffe was released from hospital Wednesday, just nine days after his frightening wreck during practice for the Indianapolis 500.

The 28-year-old had to undergo surgery after a crash at Indianapolis Speedway wounded his left leg, causing massive blood loss.
IndyCar has said that Hinchcliffe is expected to make a full recovery from his injuries but he has not been cleared to race. Conor Daly will replace Hinchcliffe this weekend in Detroit.
