Marquinhos signs new PSG deal

Marquinhos will remain at Paris Saint-Germain until 2019 after signing an extension with the Ligue 1 side.

The agreement, announced by the club Thursday, adds an additional year to the five-year deal he signed with PSG in the summer of 2013.

"It's great, very good news. It shows that I'm doing a good job. I'm very happy that the club is showing such confidence in me," Marquinhos said.

"It's a new stage of my life. The project here in Paris is magnificent ... and life in Paris is wonderful! I'm very happy with everything that's happened in my life since signing here."

The Brazilian defender has appeared in 63 matches for PSG since signing with them from Roma.

Marquinhos also earned his first cap for his country since signing with PSG and has appeared in four matches with the South American nation, making his debut in November 2013.
