Super Bowl hero Malcolm Butler honored with parade in hometown

VICKSBURG, Miss. - Malcolm Butler has received worldwide recognition since his interception at the goal line secured a Super Bowl victory for the New England Patriots over the Seattle Seahawks.

On Saturday, it was Butler's hometown that finally got a chance to celebrate with its unexpected hero.

Hundreds of people lined the main drag of Vicksburg - a town of about 25,000 people - during a parade to honor Butler. Several revelers set up smokers with chicken and sausage on an unseasonably warm afternoon.

But the focus was on the 24-year-old Butler, a 2009 Vicksburg high graduate who made the Patriots as an undrafted free agent over the summer. Butler, who wore his Patriots' jersey, said Saturday he ''couldn't do it without my hometown. This is where it all started.''
