Islanders' Visnovsky 'pretty close' to making season debut

The New York Islanders are off to a 4-1-0 start, and defensive reinforcements could soon be on the way in the form of Lubomir Visnovsky, according to head coach Jack Capuano.

"Visnovsky is pretty close," Capuano said Monday. "He had a full practice again and once I talk to the trainers, we'll find out if he's ready to go."

The veteran has been limited through training camp and the opening weeks of the regular season due to a recurring back issue. In 24 games last season, Visnovsky recorded three goals and eight assists.

If healthy, Visnovsky could provide even more fire power from the blue line for the upstart Islanders.

New York's next game is Tuesday against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
