Report: Khairi Fortt missed several meetings before release from Saints
The New Orleans Saints' decision to release fourth-round pick Khairi Fortt five games into the season may have been motivated by his off-field behavior.
The rookie linebacker missed several team meetings prior to his dismissal, according to Katherine Terrell of the New Orleans Times-Picayune.
Fortt had yet to play a regular-season game for the Saints, as he was placed on injured reserve/designated to return after suffering a leg injury during the preseason.
When asked about Fortt's rehab prior to his release, Saints head coach Sean Payton replied, "No comment."
Fortt, who was claimed off waivers by the Cincinnati Bengals, has not commented on his release publicly. A source close to Fortt told Terrell that he would prefer to move on from his time with the Saints.
