Detroit Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson has received a fabricated splint to protect a previously-injured finger, according to ESPN.com.
Johnson had surgery on the finger following the 2013 season, after also playing with injured fingers in 2012.
Johnson has not shown any complications from the procedure during training camp, and will wear the splint for protective purposes only, though it is not known how often that will be.
Johnson caught 84 passes for 1,492 yards and 12 touchdowns in 14 games last season.
