Pierzynski, a 16-year MLB veteran, was in Cooperstown to celebrate former teammate Frank Thomas' induction into the National Baseball Hall of Fame this weekend, but had to depart once the Cardinals reached out to him.
The 37-year-old should provide some stability from behind the plate in the absence of team leader Yadier Molina and boasts an impressive track record in the postseason with a .300 average in 100 October at-bats.
