Yan Gomes was placed on the paternity list Saturday

The Cleveland Indians placed Yan Gomes on the paternity list Saturday afternoon.

Analysis:

Gomes will be away from the club a few days while awaiting the birth of his child. Carlos Santana will step in to catch for him Saturday, and the club called up George Kottaras from Triple-A to serve as a backup in his stead.
