Zach Greinke: Essentially Ruled Out For Australia
Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said Monday that Greinke (calf) will not be ready to throw 90 pitches in time for the Dodgers' March 22-23 series against the Diamondbacks in Sydney, Australia, Dylan Hernandez of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Analysis:
Mattingly's comments all but rule Greinke out for the opening series, a development that probably sits well with the right-hander. Greinke previously made it clear that he wasn't happy to be opening the season overseas, and he can now adjust his target date to late March or early April, when the Dodgers start the stateside portion of their schedule.
