High-school student gets Texans cheerleader to go to prom with him
A Texas high-school student named Michael Ramirez needed a date for the prom, so he did what anyone would in his situation. He asked a Houston Texans cheerleader to go with him.
The idea started as a joke with friends, but turned serious after two Texans cheerleaders followed him on Twitter. Ramirez then asked one of them (Caitlyn) to accompany him, provided he got 10,000 retweets.
She responded with an "Of course I will," via the Houston Chronicle.
In about 24 hours, Ramirez had this tweet,“10,000 Retweets and I’ll be taking a texans cheerleader to prom," shared 10,592 times and favorited another 857 times.
“I was sitting in sixth period and everybody’s all like, ‘Oh, look, he’s one (retweet) away, he’s one away,’ ” Ramirez said. “And I hit 10 (thousand) and everybody started clapping and going crazy. And I was all, like, ‘Yep.’ ”
Ramirez is a backup guard/center for Crosby High's football team, but figures to be the most popular guy in school, at least for one night anyway.
