Gregorio De Leo: Cannot hold onto 36-hole lead
De Leo posted a six-under cumulative score at the Turkish Airlines Open on the DP World Tour to finish tied with Ricardo Gouveia for seventh.
Analysis:
De Leo went seven-under across the first two rounds of the tournament to enter the weekend at the top of the leaderboard by one stroke. He was still in contention for his first DP World Tour victory despite a one-over 73 score Saturday and was two-under through the first 10 holes of the final round. However, De Leo was unable to keep up with the rest of the field after dropping two shots over the final eight holes, including bogeys on the 15th and 17th. He ranked in the top-5 in both scrambling and SG: Putting but was below average in other strokes-gained categories, including 72nd in SG: Off-the-Tee and 82nd in SG: Around-the-Green. It was a somewhat disappointing finish for De Leo, but his T7 is his best result of the 2026 DP World Tour season and second top-10 in 11 tournaments. He'll tee off at the Estrella Damm Catalunya Championship next week.
