Blades Brown: Fails to convert lead again
Brown posted a 13-under cumulative score at the Tulum Championship on the Korn Ferry Tour to finish as the runner-up to Dylan Menante by six strokes.
Analysis:
Brown held the 54-hole lead with an 11-under cumulative score, and he was on track to become the youngest ever winner on the Korn Ferry Tour. However, the 18-year-old American was unable to gain enough ground to keep up with the surging Menante, the latter of whom carded a bogey-free, nine-under 63 score in what was the best round of the tournament. Brown was able to end Sunday's round on a high note with four birdies over the final six holes (including three straight from the 15th to the 17th) to end with a two-under 70, but it was the second time this season that he was unable to convert on a 54-hole lead. Brown's 22 birdies were tied for most in the field in Tulum, and he also ranked third in driving accuracy T10 in scrambling and T12 in GIR. He is listed in the field for the Zurich Classic of New Orleans on the PGA Tour next week, where he will partner up with Luke Clanton.
