Usain Bolt says he ate about 1,000 McNuggets at Beijing Olympics

The secret to being the fastest man in the world apparently includes a whole lot of McNuggets. Or at least it did at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.

In Usain Bolt's new memoir Faster Than Lightning, he writes about how his unfamiliarity with Chinese food resulted in trips to the one place he recognized in Beijing: McDonald's. Yes, you're probably thinking, my diet to become a champion runner is paying off.

“At first I ate a box of 20 for lunch, then another for dinner. The next day I had two boxes for breakfast, one for lunch and then another couple in the evening. I even grabbed some fries and an apple pie to go with it,” he wrote in his book, via a report by the New York Post.

It is well known Bolt ate McNuggets before winning the famous 100-metre race, but the world probably did not know the extent of his nugget addiction until now. In the book, he estimated the nugget count was 100 a day for 10 days. That is 1,000 nuggets.

He also talks about the female groupies that followed him around at meets, and how that led to an open relationship with his (now ex) girlfriend. Read more about his book here.
