Woll starts Game 2 with Stolarz unavailable
Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Joseph Woll started Wednesday's Game 2 against the Florida Panthers as Anthony Stolarz was unable to dress after sustaining an injury in the series opener.
"He's fine. He's recovering," head coach Craig Berube said of Stolarz before the game.
Berube didn't offer a timeline for Stolarz's return.
Stolarz exited Monday's Game 1 win following a collision with Panthers forward Sam Bennett, who wasn't penalized for the play.
The 31-year-old has gone 4-2 in the playoffs with a .901 save percentage. He posted an NHL-best .926 SV% in 33 starts during the regular season.
Leafs forward Scott Laughton has a simple idea of how Toronto will respond to the Panthers after Stolarz's injury.
"To win. That's how you get them," Laughton said, according to Postmedia's Lance Hornby. "Play them the same way: physical. Play their top guys hard. At the end of the day, it's about winning and punishing them that way."
Matt Murray was recalled to back up Woll.
Woll posted a .909 save percentage in 42 games during the regular season. He made 17 saves on 20 shots in relief of Stolarz in Game 1.
Murray is a two-time Stanley Cup champion with the Pittsburgh Penguins. The 30-year-old played two NHL games this season, making 51 saves on 58 shots. He had a .934 SV% in 21 contests with the AHL's Toronto Marlies, leading in that department.
