The Carolina Hurricanes secured their spot in the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs with a 5-1 victory over the Washington Capitals on Wednesday.
The Hurricanes have made the postseason seven consecutive years and reached the Eastern Conference Final twice over that span.
Carolina is likely to finish the year as the second seed in the Metropolitan Division and take on the New Jersey Devils in Round 1. After defeating the Capitals on Wednesday, the Hurricanes are nine points back of Washington with eight games remaining.
The two clubs meet again April 10.
