Bronny: 'Never thought about playing with my dad'

Draft hopeful Bronny James made it clear his goal is to forge his own path in the NBA, not play alongside his father, Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James.

"My dream has always just been to put my name out, make a name for myself, and, of course, get to the NBA," James said in his combine interview Tuesday, according to The Athletic's Mike Vorkunov.

He added, "I've never thought about playing with my dad, but of course, he's brought it up a couple of times."

LeBron previously made it known he hopes to play with his son before his career ends.

Bronny, a 6-foot-1 freshman guard from USC, impressed NBA scouts during his drills and athletic testing Monday, per ESPN's Jonathan Givony.

The 19-year-old's 40.5-inch vertical jump was the fourth highest among all combine participants. James was also the second-most accurate shooter in the 3-point star shooting drill, behind UConn forward Alex Karaban.

James failed to follow up his impressive Monday showing during his first scrimmage Tuesday, going 2-of-8 from the field for just four points in nearly 20 minutes.

He's ranked No. 98 in ESPN's top 100 prospects for the 2024 draft.

The draft will be a two-day event this year, with the first round taking place June 26 and Round 2 coming the following day.

The Lakers own the 55th pick.
