Texas' Kadin Shedrick: Sits due to back injury
Shedrick did not appear in Tuesday's 74-73 victory over Cincinnati due to a back injury, Neil Meyer of Sports Illustrated reports.
Analysis:
Reports suggested that Shedrick may have first suffered a back injury Saturday against Texas Tech, where he was held to just two points on 1-of-7 shooting. The next red flag was his absence from Tuesday's starting lineup following nine consecutive games started, and then the broadcast announced late that he would not be appearing in the contest. Dylan Disu started at center in Shedrick's stead and had his best game of the year so far, tallying a whopping 33 points on 13-of-23 shooting to go along with six rebounds, four steals, two blocks and an assist. Disu was a massive force for Texas down the stretch last season but suffered a serious foot injury in the last game of 2022-23, which forced him to miss the first nine contests of 2023-24. Now that Disu is back at seemingly full strength, Shedrick could be at risk of losing playing time, even when healthy.
