The Cleveland Guardians are meeting with Milwaukee Brewers skipper Craig Counsell about their managerial opening, sources told The Athletic's Zack Meisel and Will Sammon.
Counsell's contract with the Brewers is scheduled to expire on Oct. 31. The 53-year-old was granted permission to interview with the New York Mets for their vacant manager position last week.
The Guardians are looking for a new manager after Terry Francona retired following 11 seasons at the helm.
Counsell has led the Brewers to a 707-625 record over nine seasons. Milwaukee has qualified for the postseason five times in the last six campaigns under Counsell.
