Steph not bothered by MJ, Magic rebutting his claim to be GOAT point guard

Michael Jordan and Magic Johnson didn't agree with Stephen Curry's recent declaration that he's the greatest point guard of all time, but the Golden State Warriors star is okay with that.

In an interview with 95.7 The Game's Whitley Sandretto, Curry acknowledged that debates over the NBA's best players will always be subjective.

"It's also the unsolvable debate," Curry said. "That is why everyone asks those questions and why everybody loves to talk about them, is 'cause I can say I'm the best, Magic can defend his position, and any other point guard can chime in. It's the beautiful thing about basketball and the eras. The way I answered the question at first, obviously with so much respect and admiration for what Magic did in his career - his resume is second to none."

Curry claimed to be the best point guard ever while appearing on Gilbert Arenas' podcast in August, saying the debate came down to himself and Johnson.

Jordan disputed Curry's assertion in a text to ESPN's Stephen A. Smith, writing, "Magic Johnson is easily the best point guard of all time. Steph Curry is very close, but not in front of Magic."

Johnson himself weighed in on the debate in a late September interview with Zach Gelb of CBS Sports Radio.

"If he got more than five championships, if he got more than three Finals MVPs and three league MVPs, then he's the greatest," Johnson said. "If he got more than No. 1 in assists all time in the Finals, No. 2 in double-doubles, No. 1 in triple-doubles all time in the NBA playoffs, No. 4 in steals all time in the playoffs, if he got more than those numbers, then he's the best. ...

"But the last time I checked, he doesn't. But everybody has to decide for themselves who they think the best is."

Curry, who's entering his 15th NBA season, has won four championships along with one Finals MVP award and two league MVP trophies.
