Raiders' Pryor switches to No. 2 jersey
At the Oakland Raiders' final practice of training camp Wednesday, quarterback Terrelle Pryor looked brand-new.
For the first time in his pro career, Pryor took the field in a No. 2 jersey -- the same number he wore during his time at Ohio State. Since he entered the NFL in 2011, Pryor has worn No. 6.
When he first joined the Raiders, Pryor said he asked for No. 2, but the team wouldn't allow him to wear it.
Why? One very big reason: JaMarcus Russell.
The Raiders wanted to spare Pryor from being compared to their massive (in more ways than one) bust, Jerry McDonald of the Bay Area News Group speculates. If appears the team has finally relented.
The only other Raiders to wear No. 2 in a game are quarterback Aaron Brooks and punter Leo Araguz. In other words, it's not a number that will be retired and hanging from the rafters at the O.co Coliseum anytime soon.
