Utah Jazz guard Jordan Clarkson will exercise his $14.3-million player option to remain with the team for the 2023-24 season, sources told Sarah Todd of Deseret News.

The Jazz are now able to sign Clarkson to a contract extension rather than let him become an unrestricted free agent in 2024. Clarkson is heading into the final season of a four-year, $51-million deal he signed with Utah in 2020.

The 31-year-old is coming off the best season of his NBA career. Clarkson averaged career highs of 20.8 points and 4.4 assists last season, starting all 61 of his appearances.

Clarkson came off the bench in each of his previous two campaigns in Utah, winning Sixth Man of the Year for the 2020-21 season.

A former second-round pick by the Los Angeles Lakers, Clarkson spent time with the Cleveland Cavaliers before being traded to the Jazz in December 2019.
