Giannis suffers back contusion in Game 1 loss to Heat
Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo didn't return after leaving Sunday's Game 1 loss against the Miami Heat due to a lower back contusion.
Antetokounmpo landed hard on his back following a collision with Heat veteran Kevin Love while attempting a shot at the rim. The Bucks star returned briefly in the second quarter after he went to the locker room late in the first.
Bucks head coach Mike Budenholzer told reporters postgame, including ESPN's Jamal Collier, that Antetokounmpo's X-ray came back "clear," and that the team will monitor him moving forward.
Before leaving the contest, Antetokounmpo recorded six points, three rebounds, and two personal fouls in 11 minutes.
The Bucks star missed 19 games this season due to various injuries, including knee and wrist ailments.
