Quarterback Mac Jones is expected to start for the New England Patriots in their Week 7 Monday Night Football matchup against the Chicago Bears, a source told The Athletic's Jeff Howe.

The 2021 Pro Bowler has missed the Patriots' last three games due to a high left ankle sprain sustained in Week 3. Jones was listed as questionable ahead of Monday's contest after being a limited participant in practices throughout the week.

Jones, 24, appeared to struggle before being sidelined. He posted a 1-2 record as a starter while passing for just two touchdowns against five interceptions to go along with 786 yards.

Despite his rocky start, the Patriots will hope Jones can return to the promising form he displayed during his rookie campaign. The Alabama product threw for 3,801 yards, 22 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions with a 67.6% completion rate last season as New England made the playoffs.

Rookie Bailey Zappe has led the Patriots to a 2-0 mark as a starter in Jones' absence. The 23-year-old has tallied 596 yards, four touchdowns, and one interception.
