The Houston Astros won their 100th game of the 2022 campaign, reaching the century mark for the fourth time in the past six seasons.

Over that span, Houston only missed the 100-win plateau in 2021 when the club won 95 and in the pandemic-shortened 2020 season when teams only played 60 games.

The clinching victory came Saturday against the Baltimore Orioles at Camden Yards, with the Astros winning a back-and-forth contest 11-10.

Houston manager Dusty Baker joined exclusive company with the win, becoming one of four managers to lead both an American League and National League team to 100-win seasons. He joins Sparky Anderson, Whitey Herzog, and Tony La Russa.

The momentous win was hard-fought as the Astros trailed 5-2 after the fourth inning and 9-7 heading into the final frame. Houston scored four in a pivotal ninth-inning comeback to take a two-run lead before Rougned Odor made it a one-run game with a leadoff solo homer.

All-Star closer Ryan Pressly wound up converting the save opportunity, retiring the next three batters and securing the win.

The Astros have struggled against the Orioles this season, improving to 2-5 this year after Saturday. Houston may have won, but the Orioles ended Framber Valdez's impressive stretch of 25 consecutive quality starts. Baltimore tagged the sophomore lefty for seven runs - four earned - on 11 hits and one walk over 5 1/3 innings.

The two teams wrap up the series Sunday, with Cristian Javier set to face Austin Voth.

Baker, 73, also helped propel the San Francisco Giants to 103 wins in his very first year as a manager back in 1993. He now possesses a lifetime 2,087-1,787 record over his 25-year career as a skipper.

Having already clinched the AL West title - their fifth in six seasons - the Astros possess a strong six-game lead over the second-place New York Yankees and are attempting to secure the top overall record in the Junior Circuit. At this point, they have a guaranteed first-round bye but will look to gain home-field advantage through at least the ALCS, as well as the more favorable second-round matchup against the pair of wild-card teams.

The Astros are the second team in MLB to reach the 100-win level after the Los Angeles Dodgers, who entered Saturday with a 104-47 record.
