Chicago White Sox fans are finished with Hall of Fame manager Tony La Russa.

During Saturday's game with their team trailing by two runs in the 10th inning against the Texas Rangers, the White Sox faithful broke out into a chorus of "Fire Tony" chants.

The Rangers held on to win 11-9.

"I hear it with one ear and I see it with one eye," La Russa said following the game, according to The Associated Press. "I just know ... they want us to win. And, when we don't win, they're unhappy."

"There isn't anything that's happening with this team that, in the end, I'm not responsible for," he continued. "Never dodged accountability and I won't start now."

The White Sox had lost six of their last 10 entering Saturday, and frustrations came to a head in a loss Thursday to the Los Angeles Dodgers. La Russa made a controversial decision to walk Trea Turner on a 1-2 count in order to face Max Muncy who followed up with a three-run homer.

La Russa has adamantly defended his decision despite continuous questions and criticism for walking a hitter on two strikes.

"That's not even a close call," La Russa said Friday when asked if he had any regrets about the decision. "I mean do you know what Muncy was hitting from the left-hand side this season? .125."

The 77-year-old is in his second year as White Sox manager this time around. The four-time Manager of the Year led the team to a 93-69 record to top the AL Central in 2021. He also managed the club for most of nine years between 1979-86.
