Los Angeles Angels star outfielder Mike Trout was removed from Tuesday's game against the Boston Red Sox in the bottom of the third inning with left groin tightness, according to MLB Network's Jon Morosi.

After he ripped a one-out double, Angels interim manager Phil Nevin and a trainer came out to check on Trout before he exited the game.

Nevin said Trout will be further evaluated Wednesday, at which point they'll have a better idea of the severity of his injury. However, the skipper added that his superstar "doesn't seem too alarmed" by the injury, according to Sam Blum of the Los Angeles Times. The Angels aren't sending him for an MRI at this time, according to Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register.

The three-time MVP was having a terrific night at the plate, belting a two-run homer in the first inning.

Trout missed three games in April after he was struck on the hand by a pitch against the Texas Rangers.

The 30-year-old is off to a strong start this season, hitting .284/.388/.601 with 14 home runs and 30 RBIs in 52 contests.
