Pham accepts 3-game ban, says Pederson 'f---ed with my money'

Cincinnati Reds outfielder Tommy Pham agreed to a three-game suspension after he slapped San Francisco Giants outfielder Joc Pederson over a dispute involving a fantasy football league, according to C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic.

The suspension is backdated to Friday's game, which Pham sat out after the incident occurred during the preceding batting practice. The 34-year-old also received an undisclosed fine, according to Mark Feinsand of MLB.com.

Pham accused Pederson of saying "disrespectful shit" about the San Diego Padres - Pham's former team - and said Pederson "fucked with my money," per Rosecrans.

Pederson also used to play for the Los Angeles Dodgers, a division rival of the Padres. Pham and Pederson's shared tenures in the NL West overlapped in 2020.

News surfaced about Pham and Pederson's altercation prior to Friday's series-opening game. However, both parties refused to talk about the incident until after the contest.

Following the 5-1 win by the Reds, Pederson said that Pham was provoked by a year-long feud about an ineligible player getting stashed on injured reserve in a fantasy football league.

The suspension will make Pham ineligible to play against the Giants for the balance of the series.

The two teams meet again for a three-game series beginning June 24.
