Tiger Woods played an 18-hole practice round at Augusta National Golf Club on Tuesday to determine whether he can take part in the Masters next week, sources told ESPN's Mark Schlabach.

Woods played with his son, Charlie, and world No. 7 Justin Thomas.

The five-time Masters champion was in a car accident last February, where he suffered serious injuries to his right leg.

The 46-year-old hasn't played in an official PGA TOUR event since the 2020 Masters, a few months before the accident. He most recently played in the PNC Championship - a Champions Tour event - with his son, Charlie, in mid-December 2021.

Woods is still listed as a player on the 2022 Masters Tournament site rather than the "Past Champions Not Playing" list.

The 15-time major champion isn't new to returning from injury. From 2014-17, back injuries limited Woods. He had three previous surgeries before things began to improve after he underwent spinal fusion surgery in 2017.

Following the fourth back surgery, Woods won the TOUR Championship in late 2018, marking his official return to the winner's circle after five years. Less than a year later, Woods won his 15th major - something many believed would never happen - at the 2019 Masters. It was his first major win in over a decade.

Woods followed his Masters win with a victory at the ZOZO Championship in late 2019, tying Sam Snead's record for most all-time wins with 82.

Woods, who used a cart at the PNC Championship, said in February the hardest part of his return to competitive golf will be walking the course.
