Tony Hawk walks without crutches 10 days after breaking femur
Tony Hawk appears to be progressing well in his recovery from a broken leg.
The 53-year-old skateboarding legend tweeted a video of himself walking without crutches Thursday, just over a week after he broke his femur. He also said he's aiming to be back on a skateboard by May.
Day nine. My goal is to be skating at our Weekend Jam in Vegas on May 12; it will be the best birthday present ever.

Hawk broke his leg March 7 while attempting a McTwist (front flip with a 540-degree rotation) in the half-pipe, according to TMZ Sports. He acknowledged that recovery wouldn't be easy but hopes to skate again.
"I've said many times that I won't stop skating until I am physically unable. A broken leg - with plenty of hardware - will probably be the biggest test of that creed," Hawk tweeted a day after suffering the injury. "I'll be back... maybe not at full capacity, but I resigned to that notion years ago as I approached 'midlife.'"
Yesterday sucked. I broke my elbow 20 years ago and managed to make a full comeback; this broken femur recovery will take longer but I’m up for the challenge.

Strangely ironic that it happened on the eve of @HBO releasing a trailer for “Until The Wheels Fall Off,” @samjones’ doc pic.twitter.com/xeVwwtQjVb
