Canada has reached the top of the podium.

Max Parrot earned Canada's first gold medal of the 2022 Beijing Olympics by winning snowboarding slopestyle on Monday. Parrot's 90.96 second-run score was good enough to secure the victory.

The triumph caps a tremendous comeback for Parrot, who was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma and missed all of the 2018-19 season.

The gold medal comes four years after Parrot took home a silver in the same event in PyeongChang - and just like in 2018, he'll have some Canadian company on the podium.

Mark McMorris claimed the bronze medal with a score of 88.53 in his third run, marking the third Olympics in a row that McMorris has finished third place in slopestyle.

China's Su Yiming took home the silver, making this the host country's first-ever medal in slopestyle and giving the Chinese their second medal of these Olympics.
