Former Nets star Deron Williams says there was a noticeable increase in excitement surrounding the franchise when it moved from New Jersey to Brooklyn in 2012.

Williams, who played for the Nets from 2011-15, spoke about the team's transition to Brooklyn on the latest episode of the "All the Smoke" podcast with Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson.

"It was a different buzz when we moved to Brooklyn around the team, and Jay-Z was there a lot of games and opened up the arena with seven straight concerts," Williams said. "It was just a lot of energy in the building - something that we really didn't see in New Jersey - and it was fun."

That excitement was renewed in recent years with the Nets' addition of star players Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, and James Harden. Durant said he experienced a "fun" energy in New York last season when both the Nets and Knicks made the playoffs.
