The Atlanta Dream are investigating an early-season, off-court altercation involving several of the team's current and former players, including All-Star guard Courtney Williams.

"The behavior in the video is unacceptable and does not align with our values as an organization," the Dream told theScore in a statement. "We are taking this matter very seriously and working with the league to gather more information and determine the next steps."

A video of the fight became public after it was published on social media Sunday evening. The clip shows several current and former Dream players coming to blows with an unknown group in a parking lot.

Williams, the team's leading scorer in 2021, confirmed her role in the event in a since-deleted video on her YouTube channel.

"I want to sincerely apologize for the video posted yesterday," the 27-year-old tweeted on Monday. "I would never want to represent myself or the organization in a negative way. I’m learning every day so I ask for grace as I’m growing.

"Again I apologize to all attached, and I will be better moving forward."

A source close to the Dream told Insider's Meredith Cash that the dustup started after Williams' partner was insulted.

Crystal Bradford and Kalani Brown were also seen in the video. The latter was waived in late May, reportedly mere days prior to the altercation, according to Cash.

The Dream have faced plenty of instability in 2021, including the transition of ownership from a group featuring controversial former senator Kelly Loeffler to new partners in February led by real estate developer Larry Gottesdiener.

The team also dismissed general manager Chris Sienko after the 2021 draft. Head coach Nicki Collen then left the club to take the head coaching job at Baylor days before the start of the season.

In July, the Dream suspended talented scorer Chennedy Carter indefinitely for conduct detrimental to the team, and last year's fourth overall pick wasn't reinstated before the end of the season. That same month, interim head coach Mike Petersen resigned due to health reasons, turning the job over to Darius Taylor, the team's second interim coach of the campaign.

Atlanta finished 2021 with an 8-24 record, its third straight losing campaign and fifth over the past seven seasons.
