Butler launches Bigface coffee business
The coffee shop Jimmy Butler started as a joke inside the NBA bubble is now the real deal.
The Miami Heat star announced the official launch of his Bigface coffee brand Friday in partnership with Shopify's creator program.
"I wake up in the morning excited to train and go work out," Butler told Jabari Young of CNBC. "Then I want to hurry up and get home so I can practice my bartending."
Butler will receive 100% of the profit from Bigface through his partnership with Shopify, but the e-commerce platform will be able to use his name, image, and likeness for promotions, according to Young.
Butler began selling coffee from his hotel room in Orlando last year after noticing a lack of caffeine options around the NBA bubble. Despite the steep price tag of $20 per cup, Bigface became a big hit and even spawned a rival shop.
As for his future plans for Bigface, Butler said he's in the coffee business for the long haul.
"After my basketball career, and people are like 'Man, what is Jimmy doing nowadays,' you know where to find me," he said. "I will be in my cafe behind the bar making coffee."
