Dragic sorry for comments on Raptors: 'It didn't come out the right way'
Goran Dragic has apologized to Toronto Raptors fans for his earlier comments about joining the team.
"My message, basically, to all Toronto fans is, I would like to apologize. It didn't come out the right way," Dragic told Sportsnet's Michael Grange on Monday. "I know they love their team, and they should be proud, it is one of the best of organizations in the NBA.
"They've already won a championship, and I didn't, so what I said, it really was not appropriate."
During an appearance on Slovenian television earlier Monday, Dragic apparently said in his native language that Toronto "wasn't his preferred destination" and that he had "higher ambitions."
The 35-year-old guard joined the Raptors alongside Precious Achiuwa in last week's sign-and-trade deal that sent former franchise star Kyle Lowry to the Miami Heat.
"I love basketball, I love to play, and I'm going to give 100% wherever I play," Dragic added. "Right now, I'm (with) Toronto, and that's my main thing to think about."
Dragic thrived in a sixth-man role with the Heat last season, averaging 13.4 points and 4.4 assists across 50 appearances.
