Steph auctioning shoes to support families of Atlanta shooting victims
Stephen Curry is using his footwear to express solidarity with the Asian community and help support the victims of last month's Atlanta-area spa shootings.
The Golden State Warriors star partnered with the Bruce Lee Foundation to create a custom pair of his Under Armour Curry 8 sneakers depicting the martial arts icon, which he plans to auction off in the coming weeks, according to Nick DePaula of The Undefeated. Proceeds from the auction will be distributed among the families of the eight victims.
Curry told DePaula he was outraged by the March 16 shootings and reached out to Shannon Lee, Bruce Lee's daughter, and Dennis Chang of the Bruce Lee Foundation soon after about how he could show support to the victims' families while the Warriors were in Atlanta.
The sneakers were painted by Kreative Custom Kicks and feature one of Lee's quotes.
Curry’s shoes feature a @BruceLee quote: “Under the heavens, there is but one family.”

“We are all different & unique. On purpose. But, we are all human beings on a quest to fulfill our purpose and that energy should be used to uplift & love each other to the fullest,” he said. https://t.co/GcQK4mLKKi pic.twitter.com/SLCRrTJgGB
In addition to honoring the victims of the shootings, Curry hopes this collaboration will encourage others to learn more about Lee and what he stood for.
"(I'm looking to) honor Bruce Lee and his continued influence and impact on today, but also shine a light on the work that needs to be done to bring all of us together, no matter what our background is," Curry said. "We have it in us, but it's on all of us to make that reality happen. Spread love, joy, optimism, and positivity always."
Curry will debut the sneakers Sunday during the Warriors' game against the Atlanta Hawks.
